If you love interiors as much as we do, you’ve probably come across colour drenching, the bold decorating trend that’s painting homes (and hearts) across the country. It’s a look that can be bold yet comforting, expressive yet refined and we’ve found it pairs beautifully with our Bedspreads and collection of pillow shams and cushions.

So, what exactly is colour drenching, why is everyone talking about it, and how has it inspired us here at Forever England?

What is colour drenching?

Colour drenching means taking one shade, or variations of it and letting it flow across your walls, ceiling, doors and even furniture. Rather than breaking things up with bright white trim or contrasting ceilings, the whole space is immersed in one tone. The result? A room that feels luxurious, cohesive and wonderfully intentional.

It’s a technique that can make a small room feel larger and a large room feel more inviting. And it’s one we’ve embraced not only in our collections but in our own Forever England shops too, where our displays create that same warm feeling we love to evoke at home.

Why has colour drenching become so popular?

We believe the appeal lies in how it makes us feel. After years of neutrals and minimalist spaces, many of us are craving comfort and personality, homes that feel truly lived in and loved. Colour drenching offers all of that. It wraps a room in atmosphere, tells a story, and invites you to slow down and sink in.

All our collections are designed to layer effortlessly within colour drenched spaces, while also allowing you to mix and match pieces to easily refresh and reimagine your home whenever inspiration strikes.

The latest trends in colour drenching

Jewel tones and earthy hues have always been popular among fans of colour drenching, and they remain firm favourites. Alongside this, we’re now seeing softer shades finding their way into the colour drenching space, like dusty blues and plaster pinks, bringing with them a sense of peace and tranquillity.

Tonal variations are becoming more popular too, with shades that shift in different lights, or choosing different tones of the same colour across the walls and furnishing for an interesting, multi-dimensional effect.

One of our favourite trends we’ve seen is more layered approach to colour drenching. Working with textures and patterns to enhance the overall effect and introduce personality to the room. Once your wall is saturated in a single hue, simply choose your favourite cushions and fabrics to bring the room to life.

For example, a velvet bedspread in a slightly deeper shade than your bedroom walls introduces subtle contrast and a sense of indulgence. Or for a more neutral colour drenched room, match the muted hues but bring in a contemporary texture like a cotton parchment bedspread

Meanwhile, patterned home accessories such as pretty patchwork cushions in a similar tone to your colour drenched backdrop can add richness and interest without overwhelming the eye. Throws are another cosy addition to any home, and they can be an easy way to introduce layers and subtle pattern that you can move around as needed.

So if creating a cosy, homely haven that truly reflects you is your interiors goal, consider colour drenching, layered with pattern and texture. It might be the most rewarding thing you do for your home.
